  1. Responsibilities

4.1 Management

  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to OHS principles.
  • Provide appropriate resources, training, and support to implement this policy effectively.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and reviews to identify and control hazards.
  • Ensure all OHS procedures align with legal and industry requirements.

4.2 Employees and Contractors

  • Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others.
  • Comply with all safety protocols and report hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Participate in required OHS training and initiatives.

4.3 Volunteers and Visitors

  • Adhere to safety instructions and guidelines provided.
  • Report any hazards or concerns to designated personnel.

  3. Controlling Risks: Apply the hierarchy of controls to eliminate or minimise risks, prioritising elimination and substitution where feasible.
  4. Reviewing Controls: Regularly review and update risk controls to ensure effectiveness, particularly after incidents or changes in processes.

6.1 Performance and Rehearsal Safety

  • Ensure appropriate floor surfaces to prevent slips and falls.
  • Conduct warm-up and cool-down routines to minimise physical strain.
  • Use approved safety equipment for aerial or high-risk choreography.

6.2 Rigging and Stage Equipment

  • Engage licensed professionals for rigging and stage machinery installation.
  • Conduct pre-event inspections of all rigging and temporary structures to ensure stability and compliance with engineering standards.

6.3 Hazardous Substances and Special Effects

  • Maintain a hazardous chemicals register and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all substances.
  • Ensure safe use of pyrotechnics, atmospheric effects, and special props under controlled conditions.

6.4 Electrical and Mechanical Safety

  • Ensure all electrical equipment is tested and tagged.
  • Implement lockout procedures for maintenance of stage machinery and automation systems.

6.5 First Aid and Emergency Preparedness

  • Maintain accessible and well-stocked first aid kits at all venues.
