Wellbeing Policy

Purpose

At [SHAUN PARKER & COMPANY LIMITED (SP&Co], we are deeply committed to fostering a workplace that promotes the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of all our employees, contractors, artists, and volunteers. This policy reflects our dedication to creating a supportive environment where individuals can thrive and contribute to our mission of excellence in dance and performance.

Scope

This policy applies to all individuals engaged with [SP&Co], including employees, contractors, artists, and volunteers. It encompasses workplace practices, interactions, and initiatives designed to support health and wellbeing.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  1. Promoting Wellbeing: Encouraging practices that support mental, physical, and emotional health through education, awareness, and access to resources.
  2. Maintaining Fitness for Work: Ensuring all individuals are in a state—physically, mentally, and emotionally—that enables them to perform their duties competently, safely, and without compromising their own or others’ wellbeing.
  3. Providing a Safe Workplace: Upholding a safe and healthy work environment in compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
  4. Supporting Rehabilitation: Offering support and pathways for recovery and return to work following illness or injury.

Fitness for Work

“Fitness for Work” refers to an individual’s ability to perform their duties without risk to their health or the health of others. This includes managing physical and psychological factors that may impact performance.

To ensure fitness for work:

  • Our leading staff (AD, Producer, Production Manager, Project Co-ordinator for example) will monitor the wellbeing of team members and address any concerns promptly.
  • Employees, contractors, artists, and volunteers are encouraged to proactively manage factors that may affect their fitness for work.

Wellbeing Initiatives

[SP&Co] actively promotes wellbeing through:

  1. Educational Programs: Regular workshops, seminars, and resources on topics such as stress management, nutrition, and work-life balance.
  2. Physical Health Support: Encouraging and providing regular movement, dance and technique classes and offering guidance on maintaining physical health.
  3. Mental Health Resources: Highlighting awareness of organizations like Beyond Blue and Lifeline to provide access to counselling and mental health support.
  4. Flexible Work Practices: Where feasible, enabling flexible work arrangements to support individual needs and promote balance.

Occupational Rehabilitation

In cases of illness or injury, we are committed to:

  • Preventing workplace-related health issues by maintaining a safe environment.
  • Initiating rehabilitation processes promptly to facilitate recovery, and providing Worker’s Compensation Insurances (iCare).
  • Providing suitable responsibilities during the return-to-work period, in alignment with medical advice and individual capabilities.
  • Consulting with employees to ensure rehabilitation programs are effective and supportive.

To further support wellbeing, we recommend the following resources:

  • Lifeline: For crisis support (13 11 14 |lifeline.org.au)
  • 1800RESPECT: For family violence and sexual assault counseling (1800 737 732)
  • Relationships Australia: For relationship support (1300 364 277)

Responsibilities

  1. Management:
    • Foster a culture of respect and care.
    • Address wellbeing concerns with compassion and prompt action.
    • Provide access to resources and initiatives that promote health and balance.
  2. Employees, Contractors, Artists, and Volunteers:
    • Take proactive steps to maintain personal wellbeing.
    • Seek support or raise concerns when challenges arise.
    • Contribute to a positive and supportive workplace culture.

Review and Communication

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it reflects the latest best practices and legal requirements. It will be communicated through onboarding materials, team meetings, and our internal dropbox.
