2023 SNAPSHOT
2023 was a year filled with inspiring performances, creative developments, and beautiful dance connections!
In summary, we:
– Presented 40 performances to 12,243 audience members
– Delivered 160 workshops to 1,307 participants
– Employed 66 artists and cultural workers
KING, our acclaimed show, dazzled audiences at the Sydney WorldPride before embarking on another European tour to Germany, Luxembourg & Italy. Our epic outdoor dance creation, FOUND OBJECTS, toured throughout Regional NSW and was loved by families at the Dream BIG Festival in Adelaide. The excitement continued as we kicked off the new phase of creative development of BUBBLE, welcoming back bubble artist Su Chung-Tai from Taiwan. We were thrilled that our iconic award-winning production of AM I was chosen for the Sydney Opera’s 50th Anniversary Global Streaming. My Queer Bites Mentorship Program continued its commitment to championing the talents within the LGBTIQ+ community, offering directorial support for Dyan Tai’s music video HANTU and live performance PERMAISURI and Barbarella Karpinski’s I’m Bi and I’m Beautiful too. Finally, LUNACY, a film and installation project directed by Daniel Askill and choreographed by me, had its premiere in Sydney. It will be available for streaming internationally on Apple TV next year!
Looking ahead to 2024, we are excited about the possibilities. We have ambitious plans for new works and collaborations, touring productions, exhibitions, and more community engagement.
