About the production

This stunning collision of dance and live music investigates the quintessential meaning of ‘I’. Am I my tribe? Am I my genetic blueprint? Am I a random cosmological consequence?

Am I is both at once a perpetual question and a tantalising statement.

Shaun Parker’s gripping choreography is beautifully set against composer Nick Wales’ rich tapestry of reinvented world music performed by fourteen extraordinary musicians and dancers, including guest artist Shantala Shivalingappa.

“… it’s hard not to feel deliciously enlightened by this warm-hearted show”

Big questions are deftly explored in this exquisite and breath-taking production… AM I is one beautiful arts experience

Radio Adelaide

AM I is a truly exquisite work of story-telling, devised with brilliantly insightful creativity. In a time of social division, political fear-mongering, and an increasing dilution of intimate connection and personal identity, AM I reminds us that we are all of the same space, time and matter; an indivisible whole of Am.

★★★★ 4 and 1/2 Stars  Melbourne Arts Fashion

A glorious musical and dance ‘fanfare for the common man’…AM I is that rare beast, a genuine collaboration between composer and dance-maker…a revelation!

…I’d have happily turned around and watched this exciting new Australian work all over again.

Parker was after a fusion of science and art, and in this, he succeeds in full measure. Bravo

Jaw-droppingly spectacular.

The music by composer Nick Wales is quite succinctly, sheer brilliance
